Monaca Receives $500,000 State Grant

The Commonwealth Financing Authority today (November 12) awarded a $500,000 state Multimodal Transportation Funding grant in support of streetscape improvements included in the Monaca Gateway Project, according to Senator Elder Vogel.

The Borough of Monaca was awarded the grant for improvements along Pennsylvania Avenue including traffic signal upgrades, sidewalk and crosswalk renovations, as well as street lighting, bicycle racks and storm water management installation.

“This is good news for Monaca,” Senator Vogel said. “Grants like this that Pennsylvania provides for infrastructure improvements are long-term investments in communities. These upgrades will certainly enhance Monaca’s attractiveness for economic development. They are essentially investments that improve the quality of life for everyone.”

The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
