Senator Vogel Reaffirms Support for Lawrence County Racetrack and Casino

Calls on Harness Racing Commission to keep the License in Lawrence County

State Senator Elder Vogel Jr. today reiterated his support for the proposed Lawrence County racetrack and casino.

“The Lawrence County site was chosen as one of the best places in the Commonwealth for a casino project,” Vogel said. “I am working hard to make sure that the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission knows that we want to see the harness racing track and casino stay in Lawrence County.”

American Harness Tracks Inc. purchased the rights for the project from Centaur Gaming in Federal Bankruptcy Court. Those rights included the stipulation that the license must stay at the proposed Lawrence County site.

“I have contacted the Harness Racing Commission to reinforce my strong support for this project. This project will bring family sustaining jobs to our area and will contribute significantly to property tax relief,” Vogel added. “The property is ready for development and we have workers ready to build and staff a new harness track and casino. Lawrence County needs jobs, and I am committed to seeing this project through to completion. We need the continued support of the Harness Racing Commission to move this project forward.”
