ROCHESTER – Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) and Rep. Robert Matzie (D-16) announced several Beaver County projects will be funded through the state Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) Greenways, Trails and Recreation Grant Program.
“These grants will greatly strengthen the recreational opportunities Beaver County has to offer,” Vogel said. “Our residents and tourists will benefit from these necessary revitalization efforts and continue to experience our county’s great outdoors.”
“Making sure Beaver County gets its fair share from the commonwealth is one of the most fundamental aspects of my job as a state representative,” Matzie said. “Improving existing infrastructure, along with the construction of new projects, helps to support more opportunities for growth, and for a better quality of life in each of our communities.”
Ambridge Borough was awarded $42,000 toward the Ambridge Community Center Sports Complex project.
Center Township was awarded $120,500 toward its Municipal Park Pavilion project.
Monaca Borough was awarded $75,000 toward phase II of the Antoline Park project.
DCED’s Greenways, Trails and Recreation Grant Program funds projects involving development, rehabilitation and improvements to public parks, recreation areas, greenways, trails and river conservation. The grants are funded through Act 13 of 2012’s Marcellus Shale Fund.
The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of DCED which administers many of Pennsylvania’s economic development and community improvement programs.
