Vogel Announces $731,870 in State and Federal Grants for City of Aliquippa and Ambridge Area School District

HARRISBURG – Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) announced the City of Aliquippa has received a $148,500 Strategic Management Planning Program (STMP) state grant administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, and Ambridge Area School District received a $583,370 federal Stronger Connections Grant (SCG).

The City of Aliquippa will use this funding to enter Phase 1 to transition from Act 47 to achieve long-term sustainability.

The STMP provides matching grant funds to assist municipalities experiencing fiscal difficulties to develop comprehensive multi-year financial plans and establish short- and long-term financial objectives.

Ambridge Area School District can use this funding to promote the social, emotional, physical, and mental well-being of students and staff; address family and community engagement; and promote equitable and inclusive policies and practices.

The SCG was made available through the federal Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and provides funds to help establish safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments in public elementary and secondary schools; and prevent and respond to acts of bullying, violence, and hate that impact school communities at individual and systemic levels.

“I want to congratulate the City of Aliquippa and Ambridge Area School District on being awarded this critical funding,” said Vogel. “Investing in improvements to better your future municipal financial position as well as enhancing and promoting a safe and productive environment for our children are excellent examples of strengthening the foundations of our communities.”
