SENATE APPROVES BILL RESTORING FARM VEHICLE EXEMPTION

The Senate unanimously approved legislation on Wednesday (April 2) designed to eliminate an unnecessary regulatory burden on Pennsylvania’s farmers, according to Senator Elder Vogel, prime sponsor of the measure.

Senate Bill 1301 restores the exemption to registration-exempt farm vehicles from intrastate motor carrier safety regulations.

“As the law previously read, this exemption existed in full,” Senator Vogel said. “However, changes on the federal level removed the provision. Pennsylvania will not lose federal funds if these exceptions are restored.”

The bill now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
