Three Beaver County businesses receive energy efficiency grants

Three Beaver County businesses were recently awarded state grants intended to help them trim energy costs and reduce pollution, according to Senator Elder Vogel.

Southbound Enterprises, LLC and Wolverine Plastics, Inc. were each awarded $9,500 and J & S Transport received $4,450 from the Small Business Advantage Grant Program through the state Department of Environmental Protection.  The program provides a 50 percent matching grant of up to $9,500 toward energy efficiency improvements on systems such as lighting, heating, cooling, as well as building insulation projects.

For more information about how the DEP can help support small businesses or about future Small Business Advantage Grant programs, contact DEP’s Office of the Small Business Ombudsman at (717) 772-8909 or via email at epadvantagegrant@pa.gov.

“I encourage local businesses to look into this grant program as a way to secure state funding to make improvements and save money in the long run,” Senator Vogel said. “This program provides funding that will ease the costs of installing new equipment and reduce their energy consumption, which means savings in the long run as well.”
