Commission seeks nominations for 2014 Hannah Penn Leadership Awards

The Pennsylvania Commission for Women is accepting nominations for the 2014 Hannah Penn Leadership Awards until January 31, 2014. The awards recognize Pennsylvania women who have been outstanding mentors and role models through their leadership, service and commitment to empowering women and girls, according to Senator Elder Vogel.

Winners will be chosen in three categories: the Business Leadership Award, the Civic and Volunteer Leadership Award, and the Rising Star Award. The awards will be presented on March 26, 2014 as part of Women’s History Month.

The nomination form and guidelines are posted on the Pennsylvania Commission for Women’s website, www.pa.gov/commissionforwomen.

As William Penn’s second wife, Hannah Penn played an important role in the development of Pennsylvania, ruling the colony for six years after her husband was incapacitated by a stroke in 1712.
