Route 51 reconstruction begins in June

Senator Elder Vogel is advising local residents that a local major reconstruction project will impact traffic in Darlington, South Beaver and Chippewa townships in Beaver County beginning in June.

PENNDOT recently advised Senator Vogel that the work on Route 51, between Cannelton Road to Shenango Road is expected to run through the end of 2013. During the construction period, there will be some long-term single lane restrictions and some short-term night and weekend lane restrictions in the 4.3 mile work area.

“I ask people to be patient when traveling through the area during the construction period,” Senator Vogel said. “PENNDOT has assured me they will make every effort to keep the disruptions to a minimum and will take steps such as adjusting construction schedules for Blackhawk High School football games this fall. There will be some inconvenience, but we will have an improved and safer road when the work is completed.”

While most of the work is expected to be completed in early December, PENNDOT informed Senator Vogel that some work around and under bridges will take place from February through July 2014.
