New Castle Municipal Airport Receives Grant

Funding to design snow equipment building

The New Castle Municipal Airport will receive $153,947 to design a snow removal equipment storage building, State Senator Elder Vogel announced today.

This funding is a combination of state jet fuel tax dollars and a federal block grant administered by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Aviation. The state investment also leverages a local match.

“This funding will be used for important safety improvements at New Castle’s airport. Having a vibrant regional airport in New Castle is beneficial for the area,” Vogel said.

“Transportation infrastructure is crucial for job growth in and around Lawrence County. The airport already contributes $1.5 million into the local economy. This project can enhance that impact by improving winter operations,” Vogel added.
