Senate Adopts Vogel’s Resolution Designating FFA Week in Pennsylvania

Today, the Senate unanimously approved a resolution sponsored by State Senator Elder Vogel (R-47) declaring the week of February 19 through 26, 2011 as FFA week in Pennsylvania.

The Future Farmers of America (FFA) was founded in 1928 by a group of young farmers. Today, there are more than 520,000 FFA members in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. The membership includes not only famers, but also a diverse group in agriculture related science and business.

“The FFA does more than promote agricultural careers to our younger generations,” Vogel said. “They also impart to these young men and women time-honored values of hard work, education, and community involvement. Agriculture remains our largest industry because groups like the FFA continue to promote not only farming, but biology, chemistry, agribusiness, and other related fields.

Senator Vogel said the resolution recognizes the importance that the FFA plays in promoting agriculture and the personal development of their members.
