Funds to be used towards facility revitalization
Senator Elder Vogel Jr. will present The Friends of Old Economy Village with a grant for $241,000 at a ceremony during the Christmas at the Village celebration on Saturday, December 11th, at 2:00 p.m.
The Christmas at the Village at Old Economy Village is a traditional Christmas event celebrated every year at the Village. Attendees can tour the decorated Village and enjoy homemade food, music and hands-on activities for children and adults. Traditional craftsmen will be on-hand to offer hand made goods.
“The Friends of Old Economy deserve tremendous credit for their tireless work,” Vogel said. “The Christmas at the Village celebration is the perfect venue for presenting them with this grant because it really showcases what Old Economy Village has to offer.”
The grant will be used for renovations and enhancements to existing buildings, infrastructure, and for developing a comprehensive plan for site utilization and marketing of Old Economy Village. In addition, the grant will allow Old Economy Village to employ educational personnel for tours and other programs designed for visitors.
“Last year, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission revoked much of the funding for Old Economy Village. Without the hard work of the Friends of Old Economy, the site would be closed,” Vogel added.
