Senate Adopts Vogel’s Resolution Calling for Study of Election Technology

The Senate today adopted Senate Resolution 394, a measure introduced by Senator Elder Vogel establishing an advisory task force within the Joint State Government Commission to discuss and make recommendations for the future of casting and counting of ballots in Pennsylvania.

“The need for this task force was brought to my attention by multiple directors of voter registration and elections in my district who were concerned with a number of issues regarding the equipment used to count ballots,” said Senator Vogel. “In many cases, this equipment is aging and well behind in the terms of technology. I believe this is an appropriate time to consider all of the options that are out there and to prepare for the future.  I believe we need to have some type of plan in place when these aging machines need to be replaced.”
