Ambridge Receives $250,000 State Grant

The Commonwealth Financing Authority today (April 21) awarded a $250,000 state Greenways, Trails and Recreation Fund grant to Ambridge in support of a playground construction project, according to Senator Elder Vogel.

The Henning Street Playground will consist of a new playset, a picnic/restroom/concession shelter and a water splash-pad. The water feature will be the only water recreation provided by the borough since the closure of the local pool in the 1980s. The project also includes the construction of a parking area, appropriate fencing around the park and the implementation of appropriate pathways through the park.

“This is good news for Ambridge,” Senator Vogel said. “Grants like this that Pennsylvania provides for new recreational facilities like the Henning Street Playground are long-term investments in communities. This will be great for families and will provide a way to cool down on hot days. This playground will be a place to play for the young and the young-at-heart and will improve the quality of life for everyone in the borough.”

The CFA was established as an independent agency of the Commonwealth to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
