Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman (R-34) today appointed Senator Elder Vogel (R-47) to serve as Vice Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee for the 2021-22 Legislative Session in addition to his previously announced roles of Deputy Senate President Pro Tempore and Chairman of the Senate Agriculture & Rural Affairs Committee — a post he has held since 2011.
“I am extremely pleased to be named the Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Committee since it is the panel within the Senate that works most closely with the state budget each year and reviews all bills that involve state spending,” Senator Vogel said.
Senator Vogel will also serve as a member of three standing Senate Committees for the 2021-22 Session: Banking & Insurance, Environmental Resources & Energy, and Transportation.
“Overall, my committee assignments cover a wide range of issues that have a direct impact on the lives of the people of western Pennsylvania,” Senator Vogel said. “The Environmental Resources & Energy Committee certainly has a major role in shaping the future of the Commonwealth and our region with the continued development of the cracker plant and the Marcellus Shale industry.”
