Ellwood City Receives $113,174 State Grant

Growing Greener Funding toward Connoquenessing Creek improvements

Ellwood City Borough will receive a $113, 174 Growing Greener grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, according to Senator Elder Vogel (R-47).

The Borough, in cooperation with the Lawrence County Conservation District, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Ellwood City Community Gardeners, and Wild Waterways Conservancy, will apply the funding toward implementing best management practices to curb urban storm water runoff and improve the water quality of the Connoquenessing Creek.

"This is a great investment by the state in protecting the natural beauty of the Connoquenessing Creek and improving the quality of life for the residents of the greater Ellwood City community," Senator Vogel said. "The state is partnering with local public and private organizations to make a real difference in our environment."
