New Children’s Seatbelt Law in Effect

Child Passenger Safety Week is September 18 – 24, coming just weeks after a new law took effect in Pennsylvania requiring that children under two must be transported in rear-facing car seats to better protect their head, neck and spine. Police will issue warnings for one year, followed by fines. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says children should remain in rear-facing seats until they reach the manufacturer's height or weight limits. It’s truly an honor to be recognized by AgChoice Farm Credit as a national leader in Agriculture and Rural Policy.

New Castle, Zelienople Municipal Airports Receive State Grants

New Castle Municipal Airport and Zelienople Municipal Airport were awarded significant state grants last week to support major capital improvement projects.

New Castle Municipal Airport was awarded $250,000 to complete expansion of an existing hangar and enhance security by replacing existing fencing and installing new fencing, gates, cameras and camera equipment.

Zelienople Municipal Airport was awarded $375,000 to construct a fueling facility.

New Castle Municipal Airport and Zelienople Municipal Airport are key parts of our regional economy and they certainly will take on an even larger role in the future. These grants continue the state’s investment in our community. By developing and enhancing our local airports, we give local leaders another great marketing tool to use when competing for new businesses and jobs.

New Castle Municipal Airport and Zelienople Municipal Airport were among 23 airports across Pennsylvania sharing $8.8 million in grants during the current round of funding from the Aviation Transportation Assistance Program and Aviation Development Program.

The Aviation Transportation Assistance Program is a capital budget grant program funded with bonds. The Aviation Development Program is supported by the state’s jet fuel tax. Neither program is supported by general fund revenues.

Direct Shipment of Wine to Your Home

Legislation passed by the General Assembly in June is now in effect allowing direct wine shipments for Pennsylvania residents. Now, wine can be shipped directly to consumers’ homes. Previously, only limited wineries were permitted to ship directly to residents homes. Other direct wine shipments had to be delivered to Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores for pick up by the consumer.
